Besides the immortal beer can, what do you folks use for your favorite plinking targets?

Any home made specials, targets that have lasted for ever, cheap and nastys, or very good value for money plinking targets you have to show and share?

I made these from scrap metal found on the farm a few years ago. They worked like a bomb, many hours of fun.
Unfortunately I dont have them anymore.

But I did make these today. The little 15mm ones will be good practise for ratting at 15m, the 25mm good for rabbit practise at 30m, and I have two 40mm ones I’m still finishing.

I like shooting spinner targets, they make a good sound.

I used to enjoy shooting FT before the govt changed the rules making it very hard, but I do enjoy shooting knock over targets. Typically they have a string to pull them back up, but I had made a remote control restting one, so I only had to push a button, and they reset.

Remote control 😂 I like that.

I like targets that give you an immediate reaction and also deflect the pellet down, just makes sence from a saftey point of view 👍🏻
I also like targets that “reset” them selves with just a bit of gravity, can take shot after shot, and will hopefully last for years.

I finished the bigger swinging target today, and also made some “place anywhere and quickly” bases for a few other swinging targets.

Doing a quick cost comparison of the home made targets vs the store bought ones.

Homemade.
Bought the 6 little swinging targets (metal disks) from trade me for $20.
Bought M4 nuts, blots and washers $30
Wood for free from Miter10 off cuts bin.
A few wood screws I had already.
Total cost $50 for 3 targets, each with 2 swingers.
Expected life span, 2 years???

Store bought.
$35 for a premade swinger target from hunting and fishing.
A few wood screws I had already.
Wood for free from Miter10 off cuts box.
Total cost $35 for one target with 3 or 4 swingers.
Expected life span, 5 years???

Seems the store bought ones might end up being the better value for money in the long run 🤔

I know there are cheaper “re-settable” swinging targets for sale on trade me for $16-$20, but I have my doubts about the thickness of the little metal disks. I’ve had cheep ones before and the disks just dent and bend even when hit with a sub12fpe .177 🤔 and then u still need to pay $15 for shipping, which ringed u up to about the same price as a decent one from h&f, so so far I haven’t been brave enough to try the cheep trade me ones…

Nice stuff Pete.

Here's a video of the remote resetting target I made a while ago.

I've tested them out to 60m without any issue. They can be placed in one spot and as long as you have the remote you're all set.

Remington's, you reset by shooting the lower paddle. I have several that live outdoors and they just need a touch of oil occasionally.

I will get a pic of them setup, slightly more of a challenge to reset than drop.

Ok for 20ft/lbs when out at 25 yards.

Getting up around $70
